Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT can use Operately through remote MCP when Developer mode is enabled. After you add the app and complete OAuth, ChatGPT can read and optionally update Operately data based on the access you grant and your Operately permissions.

Before you start#

  • Have access to an Operately company you can authorize.
  • Use this MCP server URL on Operately Cloud: https://app.operately.com/mcp
  • For a self-hosted installation, use https://YOUR_INSTANCE/mcp

Connect Operately in ChatGPT#

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Select Plugins in the sidebar or go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
  3. Select the + button.
  4. Enter a name such as Operately, paste the Operately MCP server URL, and choose OAuth as the authentication method.
  5. Optionally add an icon and a description.
  6. Confirm that you trust the application.
  7. Click Create to start the connection.
  8. Sign in to Operately, select the company, and approve the requested access.

Use Operately tools in a conversation#

  1. Start a chat and open the + menu.
  2. Select the Operately app for that conversation.

Write actions usually require confirmation in ChatGPT. Review the tool input carefully before you approve changes.
