Operately v1.6

Company Export & Import, Batched Notifications, CLI Expansion, and more

Operately v1.6 is here. This release brings three major features: company data export and import for full data portability, a new batched notifications system that cuts down inbox noise, and a significantly expanded CLI.

Company Export & Import: Move your data anywhere#

You can now export your entire company—including goals, projects, discussions, comments, files, and activity history—as a single ZIP file. This makes it easy to back up your data, migrate between self-hosted instances, or simply keep a local copy for peace of mind.

The import process is just as straightforward. Upload the ZIP to a new instance and your company is restored with all relationships, permissions, and rich text content intact.

Batched Notifications: Fewer emails, more context#

Operately now groups related notifications into digest emails instead of sending one message per event. This means fewer interruptions and more meaningful summaries.

You can also configure your email preferences and choose to receive a daily summary. By default, direct mentions are still sent immediately.

CLI: Complete signup, company creation, and resource management from the terminal#

The Operately CLI introduced in v1.5.0 now supports the full user lifecycle. You and your agents can now sign up, create a company, join an existing one, and log in using email/password, email code, or Google OAuth. See the documentation for more details.

On the resource management side, you and your agents can now update your profile picture and create or manage Resource Hub files directly from the terminal. Whether you’re automating workflows or just prefer working in a shell, the CLI has you covered.

Additional Features#

This release also includes several improvements across the product:

Project check-ins can be deleted — Remove check-ins that were added by mistake or are no longer relevant.

Admin panel improvements — A new search box makes it easier to find people, and admins can now promote or demote site admins and delete accounts directly from the panel.

Quick Find now includes spaces — Press Cmd+K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Windows to search and jump directly to any space in your company.

Company feed shows joined members — When someone joins your company, a new feed item keeps everyone informed.

Rich text drafts are saved locally — Unsaved content in rich text editors is preserved locally so you don’t lose work if you navigate away.

Improved task input on mobile — Tap targets are larger, milestone titles wrap properly, and the task entry field stays in view while typing.

Parent goal search dropdown is wider and no longer truncates names — Long goal names now wrap in full instead of being cut off.

Inline title inputs resize as you type — Project and goal title fields now grow while renaming, keeping the full text visible.

Task assignee suggestions are better ranked — You appear first, followed by project contributors, then space members. People outside the project’s space are hidden by default but still findable via search.
